Residents should have all items out by 7:30 a.m. on their designated Saturday, and may place items at the curb up to a week before their scheduled collection day. Rural customers (east of 48th NE/SE) may call the Sanitation Division at (405) 329-1023 prior to September 28 to place their address on the pick-up list. Residents in the rural area can also dispose of items on October 12 at containers located at the American Legion, 156th NE and State Hwy 9, or Alameda Market, 7500 Alameda. These two drop off locations are for City of Norman trash service customers with a copy of their city trash bill or current driver’s license.
We will collect items that are normally not placed with household trash including couches, mattresses, refrigerators and air conditioners (the Freon must be removed). Please do not use polycarts, wagons, wheelbarrows or other containers for clean-up items.
Items that will not be picked up include construction debris, such as broken concrete, bricks, lumber, sheetrock, shingles or junk cars or any hazardous waste such as tires, batteries, paints, etc. No yard waste, tree limbs or brush will be collected.
No hazardous chemicals such as paints, Freon, pesticides or herbicides will be picked up. These materials may be disposed of during the annual Household Hazardous Waste event scheduled for November 2. Details on this event will be announced soon.Additionally, if you prefer to haul your own items, the Transfer Station located at 3901 S. Chautauqua will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will be free of charge on those Saturdays for any Norman sanitation customer. Remember to take a current utility bill or driver’s license with a Norman address. Commercial construction debris is not considered part of the Fall Clean Up and will be accepted at the Transfer Station at the normal gate rate.
