Scott Martin receives OCCE’s New Chamber Executive of the Year award

on November 5, 2018

Scott Martin, President and CEO of the Norman Chamber of Commerce, was named New Chamber Executive of the Year by the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives (OCCE) during its annual statewide conference in Ardmore last Thursday evening.

The New Chamber Executive of the Year Award recognizes exceptional accomplishments of chamber professionals who have been in a paid chamber leadership role for three years or less. OCCE Chair Josh Driskell called the recognition a significant honor for a new executive.

“We are so honored to give this award to Scott because of his true leadership and tenacity to make Norman the best community to live, work and play,” said Driskell. “Scott is a chamber executive to watch and learn from. He isn’t afraid to lead the community through advocacy, education and leadership, or to reach out to others for advice and best practices.”

Martin has been at the Norman Chamber since June 2017. Prior to this position, he was assistant vice president at Republic Bank and Trust in Norman. He also served as state representative for District 46 from 2006-2017. Previously, Martin worked for the City of Norman as assistant to the city manager and served as Projects Director and Public Works Director for the City of Noble.

During his tenure at the Norman Chamber, Martin has strived to elevate the chamber’s presence in the community.

“Every day my goal is to ensure the Norman Chamber is the difference maker in our community,” said Martin. “We are the organization that can bring together diverse groups in Norman to create substantive change through workforce talent, jobs and economic expansion.”
