Leadership & Quality of Life
The Norman Chamber believes that to have a city of economic vitality and growth, non-economic sectors of a community must also be strong. Norman must have a healthy and educated workforce and citizens need to have a strong sense of quality of life in our community. The Chamber will support cultural and quality of life components that raise satisfaction within our community and work with programs that improve the educational foundation of our children.
The Chamber manages two programs to enhance its Leadership and Quality of Life initiatives, Leadership Norman and Tomorrow’s Leaders.
Leadership Norman offers participants an opportunity to be part of a distinct leadership group. The program is open to anyone who either works or lives in Norman. The class consists of 16 interactive sessions, spanning an eight-month period.
Throughout the course of the program participants attend a variety of sessions focused on community history, current community issues, leadership, and self-discovery. Leadership Norman is a great way for individuals to learn about their community and build their personal network.
The Tomorrow’s Leaders program is designed to identify high school sophomores in the Norman area who have demonstrated leadership qualities and to help further develop their potential.
The program begins in January and includes nine sessions covering such topics as team building, education, youth and community leadership, city and state government, community service, and leadership styles. The program concludes in April in a joint graduation ceremony with members of Leadership Norman.
