Norman Regional Hospital

As the leading health care organization in south central Oklahoma, Norman Regional Health System serves healthcare needs, promotes wellness and improves the health status of the region. The Health System’s acute-care hospital on the Porter Avenue Campus has 337 licensed beds and offers a full range of services. Moore Medical Center has 45 licensed beds and provides general medical and surgical needs, physical therapy, obstetrical services, 24-hour emergency services and close-to-home diagnostic imaging to the Moore community.

The HealthPlex campus at Interstate 35 and Tecumseh Road is  a new specialty hospital with 135 licensed beds that will feature a Heart & Vascular Institute, Orthopedic & Spine Center and Women & Children’s Pavilion.

Norman Regional Health System provides outpatient diagnostic centers, medical transport services, physician services, centers of excellence, durable medical equipment supplies, a primary care network, community wellness service and employer health services.

Norman Regional Health System employs more than 2,900 people and partners with 300 active-staff physicians. Norman Regional has won numerous state and national awards for both its clinical practices and community outreach, and was also named one of the “100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine.

Senior Care

Norman Oklahoma is a great place for seniors. Norman has an array of resources for seniors, both recreational and basic. The environment is safe; living is affordable. There is convenient and professional healthcare, and many services aimed primarily at senior citizens.

To address the health needs of seniors, Norman provides several healthcare services including Aging Services, an Eldercare Nutrition Project, an Alzheimer’s Association, an Arthritis Foundation and the Ask a Nurse program through the Norman Regional Health System.

There are also many avenues for seniors to access social services. The local AARP office provides regular services as well as tax assistance to the elderly. Cleveland County has a Council on Aging. Legal Aid of Western Oklahoma has a local office. Meals on Wheels of Norman provides daily lunches to seniors unable to leave their homes and the local Social Security Administration office provides assistance to seniors when needed.

The Norman Senior Citizens Center, located at 329 S. Peters, is a program of the Norman Parks and Recreation Department. The center offers a daily schedule of activities for all persons age 55 and older. In addition to the daily activities the center offers special activities and trips throughout the year. The Cleveland County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) gets seniors back into the work arena to keep them just busy enough so that they don’t miss that 40-hour work week.

Griffin Memorial Hospital

Griffin Memorial Hospital is an adult inpatient psychiatric teaching hospital offering comprehensive services that include psychiatric and psychological diagnostic evaluation; individual, group, and family psychotherapy; chemotherapy; activities therapy; psychiatric rehabilitation; and medical and surgical services for mental health clients. Specialized acute psychiatric services are available for geriatric and developmentally disabled clients.

The J.D. McCarty Center is a rehabilitation hospital where Oklahoma’s children with development disabilities learn to move, act, play, think and communicate better and where parents find relief from overwhelming responsibilities. Both inpatient and outpatient care are available.

Oklahoma Veterans Center, Norman Division

The Oklahoma Veterans Center provides long-term, skilled and non-skilled nursing care to eligible Oklahoma veterans in a state-of-the-art 301-bed long-term nursing care center. Staff includes doctors and social workers on every unit and physical therapists.

Norman Specialty Hospital
(NSH) is a 50 bed Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH). We are a facility that provides extended care for medically complexed acutely ill patients. We provide highly specialized medical care and rehabilitation in a beautiful and spacious facility. Care is delivered to patients whose conditions have stabilized beyond the need for intensive care, but whose needs may be too demanding for traditional rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or long-term care. Patient at Norman Specialty Hospital can expect an extended stay averaging 25 days. A wide variety of services and treatment plans are available in a warm and responsive environment. A multi-disciplinary treatment team is available to every patient. Patients and families will have a Case Management team member to assist them with daily needs and discharge planning. Chaplain services are also available. Patients are seen daily by Physicians and 24 hour nursing care is provided. Specialized wound care, and respiratory care are provided as well. Every patient is evaluated by a Registered Nurse Liaison to ensure that they meet admission criteria according to Insurance and Medicare prior to admission.
