The Greater Oklahoma City
Chamber, the Norman Chamber of Commerce and chambers of commerce located in
Cleveland County have partnered to offer expanded coverage of its Chamber Choice group health
insurance plan. Offered through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Chamber
Choice provides small businesses an affordable way to manage their employees’
health care needs.
Businesses that have between two and 99 employees will be eligible to
participate in Chamber Choice if they are members of the Norman Chamber of
Commerce. Previously only businesses that were members of the Greater Oklahoma
City Chamber qualified for Chamber Choice.
“This is the logical next
step for the Chamber Choice program,” said Greater Oklahoma City Chamber
President & CEO Roy H. Williams. “A healthy workforce is important to a healthy
economy,” Williams said, “and Chamber Choice has been a very successful program.
We wanted to make it available to more businesses in more communities in the
region.”
The Greater Oklahoma City
Chamber joined with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma in 2001 to provide
small businesses an easy and affordable way to offer group health insurance
coverage to their employees. With Chamber Choice, there is no medical
underwriting. Each group offers its employees a choice of PPO and HMO coverage.
“We are so pleased to be
able to offer to our members a health care plan that everyone will be welcome to
use as part of their Norman Chamber membership, said Robin Allen, Chamber
President. “As everyone knows health care can be very difficult to obtain for
our small business members or for business owners that have employees with past
health issues.
Hundreds of Oklahoma
businesses are currently enrolled in Chamber Choice – approximately 25 percent
of them did not offer their employees group health insurance before signing up
for the plan.
